Science and technology journalists should not only have a knowledge of a specialized field, but also be able to integrate that knowledge with related philosophical, historical, and social perspectives. MAJESTy is designed for students to find multiple perspectives from which to explore issues related to science and technology.

The significance of journalism and the role of the media are once again being debated today, as increasingly diverse means of communication are bringing marked changes to the way the world operates. MAJESTy will draw on contemporary theories of journalism to consider what is in store for the future of journalism and the media.

Course module: Theory of Journalism

Critical thinking is essential for all journalists. Critical thinking should be exercised not for the sake of criticism alone but for the promotion of social equity and the realization of a better society. Through lectures and class discussions, students will seek to enhance their habit of thinking critically.

The growth of Internet has provided us with ready access to a tremendous store of information. However, this in no way diminishes the need for journalists to cultivate their own independent sources of information. MAJESTy will provide students with opportunities to experience and understand the value of field-based activities.

Journalists must be adept at gathering and analyzing information, and at organizing this information into news stories. MAJESTy will train students to acquire basic skills ranging from carrying out research and conducting interviews to writing completed news stories.
